Oppositional Defiant Disorder

Upon reading an article on oppositional defiant disorder it has become apparent that many of my students suffer from behavioral malfunction. It is also safe to sat that it is probably another psychologist's label of a child who was brought up in a harsh environment with harsh genetic disposition towards "being bad."
ODD as is abbreviated, is a psychiatric disorder that highlights aggressiveness and purposeful intentions to irritate others in their presence. The antisocial behavior is primarily directed at authoritative figures. It does not involve extreme antisocial violations on the subject, but sustains a pattern of defiant and uncooperative behaviors.
Although everyone has an occasional bad day where they refuse to obey the rules, ODD denotes at least a six-month stint of disorderly behavior. Unfortunately, the disturbances impair relationships in social, academic, and occupational settings.
Symptoms of the disorder vary and are definitely subjective, but many children with the disorder lose tempers, argue with adults, refuse to comply with authority, spitefully bother others, and blame others for mistakes made on their behalf.
Most ODD children are also victims of ADD or ADHD and it is more common in boys than girls usually surfacing before puberty. The causes are not fully understood, but several theories currently exist. It comes about as a result of incomplete childhood development, when patients are left behind after failing to develop crucial social skills of following rules and authority. Like a pit-bull, children are programmed according to the style and techniques of their upbringing. Consistent negative interaction brings about the rebellious behavior.
